UCF Solar Panels, Tower 2
Modern Plumbing Industries (MPI), in coordination with the school, installed a solar water heating system to help satisfy demand and reduce expenses associated with water heating.

- Contractor: Modern Plumbing Industries, Inc.
- Year Completed: 2009
The University has been going green for some time. The Tower 2 dormitory houses 500+ students and consumes massive amounts of water daily. Modern Plumbing Industries (MPI), in coordination with the school, installed a solar water heating system to help satisfy demand and reduce expenses associated with water heating. MPI, acting as the prime contractor, installed a thirty solar panel array on the roof of Tower 2. The panels were attached to steel brackets on the ground: 3 steel structures, 10 panels each and craned onto the roof. The steel bracketing was then attached to the building structure. Coordination and design played a major role in the success of this project. The University continues collecting data on cost savings and feedback has been very positive.
