How a 24-Hour Plumber Can Help You

December 17th, 2018

Let’s face it, emergencies don’t always occur during typical office hours. Imagine if the Emergency Room was only open Monday through Friday from 9:00-5:00? A lot of people would be in some serious trouble! Well, the same applies to your plumbing system. When an emergency strikes, you want to be sure that there is a technician ready to help you, no matter the hour.

There is a wide range of plumbing issues that constitute emergencies, so don’t be afraid to pick up your phone! Waiting until the morning could spell significant damage to your home and property. Trust us, plumbing emergencies can be quite messy, so you’ll want the problem resolved as soon as possible.

Types of Plumbing Emergencies

Overflowing Toilet

As you can imagine, an overflowing toilet is something that causes many homeowners to panic—and for good reason! Not only will you no longer have use of the toilet, but there is potential for water damage and unhygienic situations. If you find yourself in this predicament, call an emergency plumber right away.

Burst Pipe

This is something that happens more often in the winter. When a pipe freezes, there is a rise in pressure along the pipe due to the ice. This can cause the pipe to burst. When a pipe bursts, water escapes into your home. This heavy flow of water can cause some serious damage to your property and furnishings. If you notice a pipe has burst, shut off the main water line and contact an emergency plumber as quickly as you can.

Sewer Line Blockage

If you’ve noticed that multiple drains around your home have become clogged or slow,  you most likely have a major problem deep within your drainage system. Your main sewer line is responsible for removing all of the wastewater from your home. If you notice the aforementioned tell-tale signs, contact a plumber before the situation worsens. A blocked sewer line can lead to sewage backing up into your home, which is definitely an emergency! Only a trained plumber will be able to tell if the problem lies within your sewer line. Their experience allows them to pinpoint the exact source of the problem and repair it before it becomes any worse.

Main Water Line Leak

There are a few big signs that indicate that your main water line is in jeopardy. If you notice water pooling in your lawn or in your basement, a sudden growth of mold, or no water coming from the taps, call a professional right away. A main line water leak will lead to very serious damage if left unattended.

Is It Necessary to Have Plumbers to Detect Leaks?

November 5th, 2018

Plumbing-LeakLeaks in the plumbing can range from a nuisance to an emergency. But they have one thing in common: they can’t simply be left alone. A leak doesn’t fix itself, and even the smallest pinhole leak not only wastes water, it creates building damage and allows for mold and mildew to build up.

But do you really need a professional plumber to detect leaks in your house? If you think of each leak as a massive, catastrophic one that’s sending water directly into your home, it sounds a bit silly that you’d need a professional to say, “Hey, there’s a leak there!”

However, even with leaks you can immediately see, it’s necessary to get a plumber to track down the specific place to fix it and to see if there are other leaks. And, in the case of the majority of leaks you can’t see, you’ll absolutely need a plumber.

Modern Plumbing Industries, Inc. Is Donating to Breast Cancer Awareness!

September 25th, 2018

pink ribbonDid you know that 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes? Breast cancer is currently the second leading cause of death among women, and each year over 220,000 women in the country will be diagnosed with it. Breast cancer affects men as well, with an estimated 2,150 diagnoses each year. This is why it is so important to contribute to funding for breast cancer research and resources for both women and men to diagnose the disease early and effectively treat it. Already, research funding has helped to contribute to a decline in death rates thanks to continually improving options for treatment and better screening.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Modern Plumbing Industries, Inc. is proud once again to join in the fight against this widespread form of cancer. For this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, MPI will be donating a percentage of our October revenue to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. These donations will go to help women in need meet the expenses of their breast cancer care. To help further increase awareness among our customers, all of our MPI technicians will be wearing pink booties and masks on their service calls.

Please join with us this month—and every month—in helping to shed more light on breast cancer and to honor those who have suffered from this affliction and those who are fighting to bring an end to it.
